Spring Street Transit Station Multimodal Access Plan |
La Mesa
The City of La Mesa’s Spring Street Transit Station Multimodal Access Plan aims to enhance access, connectivity, and safety for all modes of travel at the station. Funded by a Sustainable Communities planning grant from Caltrans, the Plan evaluates two alternatives—an underpass and an overpass—to create a grade-separated crossing at High Street over the San Diego Trolley tracks.
The plan’s primary goals are to improve access to the station, enhance connections to transit, and promote active transportation by providing more direct routes for pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles. It considers future transit needs, including increased trolley frequency and connections to the proposed La Mesa Rail Trail, while supporting the City’s Climate Action Plan (CAP) and Vision Zero policies.
The Plan lays the foundation for securing future funding and advancing the project through design and construction—ultimately creating a safer, more efficient, and sustainable transportation hub that better serves the community.
